On This Day...

Forgot to mention...

A couple of days ago I also deployed a small little bijou featurette in the form of 'On This Day' for public entries. I previously deployed an 'On This Day' for your private dashboard to show you entries written on the same date in previous years for your own diary.

But now, up alongside the Latest Updates is a new tab with On This Day for public entries. So have a look at what people were doing on this day in history. Some of the entries go way back! The selection is taken at random from public entries (up to ten will show) across the years from the current date.

There are literally millions of different entries but most aren't public and unfortunately only the public ones can be shown of course. If anyone shows up who you haven't seen recently why not leave them comment on 'todays' entry and see what they're up to πŸ˜›

Let me know your thoughts!

Oh wow! Oh WOW! What a GREAT feature!!!! There was an entry from Pragmatist! We both mentioned the Air Show that was happening then. I love this. But I miss the Pragmatist.... Too bad those old photos got lost in the spam shuffle years ago. But still... what a wonderful feature. Thank you so much!!!!

what's so great about deardiary?

GroundZero23

who started deardiary at first?

Steve, the current admin and a friend started it. So we are dealing with the original creator. Welcome to Dear Diary!

GroundZero23

seriously who's the creator of Dear Diary?

It was created by two people, Matt and Steve. It was originally Matt’s baby and Steve came on board a few days/weeks later. From there it grew over the next couple of years. This is public knowledge in the very first entries on this very diary.

so tell me who actually created DearDiary because ain't know way two people could create a website

Go read the earliest entries. DearDiary was created in 1999 by Matt and Steve. Your opinion is not correct. We did of course rely on people’s input for which features people wanted and as always to find bugs and tell us about them. But the code was written by Matt and Steve. Since then it’s been rewritten a number of times with the latest incarnation being written by Steve.
