Firstly, official policy is that we couldn't care less if you have 8000 out of the present 8061 diaries on the system provided you don't use them to abuse other people and hide behind some pseudonym. If you do that you're outside the AUP and the account(s) risk removal.
Secondly, how can it possibly abuse people's trust? I have a few diaries on the system - this one, my one (DeLancie), FantasyPilots and OpenFiction1. They're all written by me, and they're all relevant. They deal with seperate aspects of my life (the DeLancie diary is the general diary, others deal with the flying etc). I fail to see how that abuses anyones trust.
I would sincerely appreciate it if people actually used the site to chronicle their lives and stopped worrying about who's who and is this person that person as well. It really doesn't matter. Read the diaries for entertainment purposes only. Leave comments if you think you can help with an issue in the diary. Forget about WHO'S diary it is because, and this may come as a shock to you, you can NOT KNOW WHO'S it is, unless you know the person personally in real life.
And definitely quit with the opinions on who might be who. It gains you nothing. If someone wants 70 diaries and has the time to maintain them all, let them enjoy that freedom.
I look around this site and see people that are clearly in need of helping hands, clearly in need of some healing for various reasons, and all the time others are trying to stomp on them. Spend your energies making a difference to these people in a positive way rather than witch hunting the few who might, shudder of all shudders, have more than one diary.
Steve.

It would also be more symmetrical... (Woops! The artist in me got loose again... ;)
*Runs off to go catch her artistic side*
innocently commenting in 5 diaries, thinking
they're commnenting to five people, when in
reality, they are commenting to 1.
the 'one' author considers spending their
time commenting under the avalanche of pseudo-names
they've contrived for themselves in various diaries
as somehow being constructive to the evolution
of mankind, when in reality it's just's one
person, condescending and ripping the piss
out of everyone involved.
multiple diaries/authors: do make a difference
to people's general contemptlation of online
trust. Some idoit commenting in someone else's
diary undert 3/4/5 different names needs medical
help.
An adult entry might have a really obscene title (this one didn't, though the diarist's name was suggestive, to me), and that might show up if this is common.
BUT...you don't have to get back to me either way...I just wanted to point that out if it isn't intended! Okay, back to my own diary, bye. ^_^
Im annoyed if someone feels it wrong.
I was as honest as I could be having an annonomyous diary. I had NO COMMENTS so people wouldnt get "involved" I used the same email addy to sign up so I could never be told I was being dishonest. I in no way pretended to be another, I expressed my feelings that I wasnt able to in my Rosebud diary, because the readers (some of them) had become friends, and I found it hard to be "down" or in "pain" and besides..that diary was for me. If however someone pretends to be 2 people or 5 people and draggs people in..sure, thats down right deceit.
If I upset anyone having 2 diaries, Im sorry :-( I didnt mean to, so who else are you all talking about?

I think some of you are missing the point here. You read and comment on the diaries out of choice and largely I would imagine out of a sense of altruism, and as DeLancie so rightly points out, you cannot possibly know a person just from the few thoughts someone write in their diary(ies).
You have no right to expect honesty and full disclosure from people when they aren't asking you for anything and have no involvement in your life. It simply isn't fair. It doesn't work that way face to face either, people will always show what they want to show and hide what they don't want people to see. It's both reasonable and understandable.
You have to remember that most people write their diaries for THEMSELVES and only for themselves, being allowed to view that and comment on it is a priveledge and not a right.
I thank DeLancie and Matt et al for providing us with this wonderful service and keeping a level head with such delicate matters.
I find my second, private and anon diary under this name an imperative tool for self exploration of myself and who I am as a person and the journeys of my life to reflect on.
I think Matt and Steve do a wonderful job and it's wonderful to see this site founded by two males.
(Make sure you click the banners to help out as well :-)
That idiot needing medical help was I. The diary in question (GoCo) was SOOOOOOO totally malicious toward people having psychiatric illness, and I was so hurt and upset by it, after it called me out by a thinly veiled psuedoname, that I decided to cover my hurt by responding humorously with four different voices.
Ironically, in the process of doing so, I wrote a comment that suggested the identity of the real author of the diary (and also suggested YOU, FOURofNINE as being involved), and I felt bad and asked support@dd if these comments could be removed, but support@dd did not feel it had the authority to do so.
Imagine an idiot needing medical help wanting to do this kindness for the likes of you.
