Finally - lol

So, the system now understands that one login account (i.e. your e-mail address and password) can have multiple usernames associated with it. This means that if you currently have different logins so that you can write your diary under different usernames, I can merge those usernames under one e-mail login for you and you can switch between them.

You cannot yet create new usernames through the system. This will come later because there's some impact on the Plus system with this change, that isn't well catered for yet.

This is because Plus users can have multiple diaries - which non-plus users cannot. So this system would be a neat way of having additional (albeit private only) diaries. This needs remedying before I can open it up more to allowing creating new usernames.

So for now, if you wish to merge multiple usernames under one login account please drop me an email using the little envelope icon at the bottom of the screen and I will merge them manually. I will need to know the usernames of each of the different accounts, and which one you wish to be the 'master' account as it were.

To switch your username (and you can try it even if you only have one) click the menu at the top right, select 'switch username' and you'll get a dialog box come up that will enable you, if you have more than one user, to switch users. The page you are on will not be impacted - though bear in mind if you're on someone else's diary and the original username is set up as a follower but the new username is not, you will not be able to read that diary again until you switch back.
