Today has seen the release of the modified code base to better match the software with the multi-user per account system. Much of which you won't actually see any difference for - but there are some changes you might notice if you look closely enough.
Under the menu the 'Profile' option has become 'Account'. The account screen now defaults to showing you your login account details (i.e. your email address, your password, passkeys etc). The username sections have moved to a new tab called user. Remember that now, one account can have multiple users. So the data on the account page is your GLOBAL account details.
There is no need to have multiple e-mail addresses registered. If you have multiple e-mail addresses registered and are a Plus member, only 1 of those email addresses will be flagged as Plus unless you pay for each registered email address. But you don't need to do this. If you have multiple e-mail addresses registered then message me and I will combine the different usernames so that they are registered to just one email address in the system. You can then switch between the usernames without having to logout and login again as a new user. All usernames will then be Plus under the same email login.
Under the Account tab you will also see a 'Danger Zone'. Do not go there. The only option under there (at the moment) is a request to delete your account.
I cannot stress this enough - this will delete your entire user account. All usernames will be deleted. All diaries belonging to all usernames will be deleted. All entries belonging to all diaries will be deleted. All comments on all entries belonging to all diaries belonging to.... You get the idea.
Deleting your account is a terminal step. Neither you nor us can recover your account if you delete it. Deleting your account is final.
Legally this is because the GDPR (and by extension the UK Data Protection Act) requires that if you request we delete your data we must delete your data. Except for financial transaction data. For some reason they require us to keep that specific data for 7 years regardless of what you want. But I digress.
So, don't enter the Danger Zone unless you want to delete your account and understand that we cannot recover it if you do. You will be sent a confirmation email before the account is deleted though, so that if you leave your account logged in and someone gets hold of it they can't delete your account, unless they also have access to your e-mail address.
That's today's big update - much of which was behind the scenes moving data from the deardiary users table to the Better Auth user table since that's the centralised storage spot for login data.
My end to end tests pass this update but if you spot any weirdisms or errors please don't hesitate to drop me a line. You know where I am. Sobbing in the corner probably. But no, the little envelope icon in the bottom right.
Or leave a comment.
Or both 😀
