We went away early this year - Moosey was all ready to go by the beginning of April so we taxed her and off we went for a few days away on the Norfolk Broads.

Many years ago we considered a holiday in a boat on the Broads - but holy moly is that expensive... We can stay on camp sites for the whole season for the price of a week on the Broads. Which is why we have Moosey 😊

Joey was somewhat apprehensive - mostly, we suspect, because last year he hurt himself while we were away and we ended up having to take him to the vets. This cut our last trip away short by a couple of nights. And Joey ended up on anti-inflammatories.

We did actually build a ramp for him on the off season but he decided that was for old dogs and didn't much like it. So he figured it was better to just jump in while he's still got the ability.

But he did manage to settle down somewhat for the actual journey. I don't think he slept though which is, let's face it, a greyhound's favourite pasttime.

So, we arrived on site, which was a lovely little CL. Two other vans were on site already - and actually the only two that we saw for the few nights we were away. Missy Moo wasn't with us when we first arrived, she came along later. I managed to get the awning up on my own. Mostly due to a rather excellent lack of wind this time. The awning seems to be made out of material very similar to that from which a parachute is made - and acts accordingly in anything more than a reasonable breeze.

But it went up nonetheless, and definitely looked nice and cozy in the evening.

By the following day Joey was as happy as a Greyhound in his bed. Which is to say, very happy. He had no trouble hopping in and out of the van almost like he was a puppy again. So it looks like we made a ramp for his aging joints for no reason.

But it was a lovely first trip away. We had some foibles with the bed layout (again) but we'll make some adjustments before the next trip.

If you're wondering why Moosey looks so bright and shiny even in the dark it's because I spent 3 days before we went away going over all the panels with T-Cut. Thankfully I had a powered polisher (albeit a very small one) rather than having to use my own elbow grease because I was knackered after that little stint as it was. But she actually came OK in most places. Some of the panels on the passenger side have paint that is so thin that you can see the primer coming through but we're hoping to rectify that later in the year.

For our first trip away this year we were very pleased indeed. I'll wrap this entry up with a view from the awning one evening. Which isn't a bad view at all, especially in April!
