It took a little while but the panel is now finished. It's not a perfect job, but it is solid and doesn't look half bad. I'm pretty pleased with it. Here's some photos.
A reminder of 'before'
Welding done - needs grinding back a bit though
Ground back and some filler applied to waterproof
Filler sanded back, primer applied - Missy Moo did this stage!
All in all a pretty solid job. I did grind the welds back a touch too far in a couple of spots so it needed a bit more filler than I wanted. A lesson for the future that is.
Sadly neither of us took any photos of the finished article with the white paint and the bumper clips reinstalled!! What? But the bumper is now back on, properly riveted into place and looking very smart indeed.
Finally, a quick photo of the inside of the wheelarch which also needed a little patch put in.
Inside the wheelarch
There's more work to be done in the wheelarch as some of the underseal protection has been damaged by road use and is now starting to flake away. The problem with that is that once that starts happening water can get in and gets trapped behind it so it makes things worse rather than better.
Onwards and upwards!
