Clean Day

I started the day making my cup of coffee at 4:30am. I let the dog out to potty and gave him breakfast. I watched some tv and drnak some of my coffee, and then put dishes away. By 6 o'clock, I started my laundry. I used my homemade powdered laundry detergent that I made with washing soda, baking soda and epsom salt. I only had to put 2 tbsp in the washer. Usually you're supposed to put 1-2 tbsp depending on soilage. My clothes have a deep smell of dog, so I'm hoping 2 tbsp will eradicate that smell once and for all. I've used the typical laundry detergent and it just doesn't seem to get the smell out.

I used a similar detergent for my dishwasher and my dishes came out very clean and didn't have any musty smell to them, however, I did put vinegar in the rinse-aid area too. I think the vinegar helped a lot. It also helped get rid of the hard water deposits I usually find all over my dishes. I hate that. It makes my dishes still look dirty. I used to use Castille soap, but it seemed to leave this film all over my dishes. I think I will use this homemade detergent from now on since the it seems it works a lot better and so easy to make. Plus it's cheap because you don't need much of it either.

I have been trying to make homemade cleaners for a while, just to eliminate so many chemicals used in my house. I'm still working on it, but I will get there. I think most of the homemade cleaners use vinegar and water. I need to look into essential oils to freshen the apartment up with nice, but non-toxic smells.

I enjoy making homemade stuff like this. It feels healthier. If only I could break the habit of eating processed. It kinda defeats the purpose of trying to live more natural if I'm not feeding myself natural.

I'd love to buy some real farm-raised meats and eggs locally. I can get fresh eggs from my Sister-in-law but the meats, I'll have to look around. They are about $14/lbs, but it is just me, so if I could maybe buy like 20lbs of say beef cuts, it could probably last a while in my freezer, especially if I had chicken too. I don't eat much pork besides bacon and maybe ham, so I wouldn't buy much pork. I'd have to buy in bulk in order to get some sort of deal out of it. My SIL has recommended a farm, so I might eventually have to check them out.

I'd love to make my own homemade meals, but I must admit, I do get lazy and I don't have all day, all the time. I have a job, it's just me and most of the time, I can only do this stuff on the weekends.

....Damn, why isn't there a folder where unfinished entries can go in? This is frustrating. I have to stop writing for a bit, but I can't save my entry without posting it? I don't want to leave my phone open in case the entry decides to erase itself for some reason. Or maybe, I just haven't figured out the option yet? I am new here, still trying to figure this website out.

Hullo, for unfinished drafts, just save the entry with Private visibility while you're still working on it, then switch it to Public when you're finished.

I could add a 'Draft' visibility if that would make it easier to organise, but for the time being Private would do what you want.

Hope that helps 😊

Steve.

Thank you.

No worries at all. Don’t be afraid to drop me a line with questions, I might not catch up on your diary but I’ll definitely respond if you drop me a line 😊

I just ordered a dish soap with minimal ingredients. I noticed that a skillet I had washed and rinsed thoroughly smelled like my dish soap when I heated it up to cook something. What? So yeah, keeping it simpler is probably a good idea!
