RUST AND LENTEN FASTS HANGING IN THE BALANCE

North Of Italy, 6:46 PM
Yesterday, at some point, I clicked Save and published my first public entry here on MyDiary.net without overthinking it.
I posted it exactly as I had written it, except for names and places, of course.
I posted again this morning, and I think I’ll keep doing it.
I had been looking for a space like this for a long time — a place where, for once, words speak, not faces, designer clothes, or perfectly curated photos.
I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it yet, but one thing is certain: I don’t want to display a perfect life — quite the opposite.
In some way, I’m convinced that everyone has something worth telling, even those who constantly feel out of place in a world that is too loud and lacking depth.
As soon as I woke up, while a few birds were greeting the sun ☀️, I completed the Novena to Our Lady of Sorrows.
I didn’t miss a single day, which made me proud, considering perseverance isn’t exactly my strongest trait.
I cared about it deeply — it was mainly for James Van Der Beek and his family.
His passing shook me far more than I expected; I had the strange feeling of losing an old friend.
Around lunchtime, I went to my hairdresser 💇🏻, which basically saved most of my Saturday — otherwise it would have been lonely and desolate, as it often is.
The sun was warm, but the wind was still very fresh and slightly annoying 🍃.
Later, I finished watching Happiest Season on Amazon Prime, the movie they screened last night at the Arcigay event in my city.
Kristen Stewart is in it, and I also recognized an actor from Titanic, which was a pleasant surprise!
I felt seen and appreciated 🥰.
The only real inconvenience today was that, at one point, rusty water started coming out of the sink… and, well, the fact that I honestly don’t know whether I’ll manage to fast (in a broader sense) during this Lenten season.
Wish me luck!

Welcome to Dear Diary! Yes.... this is most definitely the 'slow lane' of the internet. I hope you like it here.
Thanks for the warm welcome, I'm really enjoying myself here!
Welcome to DearDiary.Net - we set the site up many years ago before the advent of modern social media. We think it provides the opportunity for significantly more depth.
Which is why there's no algorithm here. Follow whichever diaries you want to - which might mean none of course. We'll not be curating a feed for you or trying to steal your attention from real life. Come and write when you want, and don't when you don't want to :)
Welcome. If you need anything, reach out and ask! You can find us on the DD Admin Diary :)
Thank you!
