User Profile
Your public profile is at /user/your-username. It displays a grid of book-style cards for each of your public diaries that contain at least one entry. Each card shows the diary title, a preview of the cover page, and the entry and follower counts. Clicking a card takes the visitor straight to that diary.
Private and followers-only diaries, and public diaries with no entries yet, are not shown.
Setting your username
Your username determines your profile URL and is the name shown on your comments and entries.
- Open the profile menu (your avatar/name in the header or sidebar).
- Click User Settings (not Account Settings — that is for login security).
- Enter a username in the User Name field. This field is required.
- Optionally enter a Real Name (this is not publicly displayed on the profile page but may appear in other contexts).
- Click Update Details.
Your profile is then available at deardiary.net/user/your-username.
Note: User Settings and Account Settings are two separate dialogs. User Settings covers your username and real name. Account Settings covers password, passkeys, active sessions, and security options.
Multiple usernames
If your account has more than one username associated with it, a Switch User button appears next to the username field in User Settings. This lets you switch between them without logging out.
Viewing someone else's profile
You can visit any user's profile at /user/their-username. From there, click through to any of their public diaries to read entries or follow the diary.
Profile pages are also linked automatically — if a user has left a comment on a diary, clicking their username in that comment takes you to their profile.
