Followers

Followers are other DearDiary.Net members who subscribe to your diary. When you publish an entry you can optionally notify followers by email. You can also control which followers can read your followers only entries.

How following works

  1. A logged-in visitor views your public diary and clicks Follow.
  2. You receive a notification that someone is following your diary.
  3. You can approve or block them from Diary Settings → Followers.
  4. Approved followers gain access to followers-only entries and receive email notifications for new public entries (if they've opted in).

Managing followers

  • Diary Settings → Followers — see all followers, their approval status, and whether they want email notifications.
  • You can remove a follower at any time — they will no longer receive notifications and will lose access to followers-only entries.

Following other diaries

Visit any public diary and click Follow. You can see all the diaries you follow from your Profile page.

Important Privacy Information

You retain full control of which followers you allow or block. However, this only applies to a Followers Only diary or entry. Private entries are never visible to anyone except you as the diary/entry owner. Public entries are always visible to anyone (even non-logged in users and search engines).

Blocked followers will not receive notifications when you post new public entries, but they will be able to read them if they stumble across them. They are public entries after all.
