We are covering WWII in my history class right now, and have been going over what was going on in Germany in the 1930’s when Hitler first came into power.
What happened then and what has happened more recently with Saddam in Iraq are very similar. The politics may be different, and the reasons for their actions may be different, but the actions themselves and the choices made by these two men are virtually mirroring each other.
I have to say, while I don’t like the US going to war, I’m very glad to see that our government chose to become involved in what was happening in the Middle East before it escalated to the extent of what happened in Europe almost 70 years ago.
