Long Day
Tue May 11 2004

It’s been a LONG day today. We left the house shortly after 7, and got home shortly after 3. All but about an hour of that was driving. My poor van got a serious work out today. Even worse, my pocket book was raped when I stopped to fill up on gas before heading south. It cost 80 freaking bucks to fill my gas tank. Boy I hope gas prices come down SOON!!!!! I SO cannot wait until I can trade in my van on a hybrid vehicle. We need to get our debt more under control before I can do that though! I’ve been eyeballing the Toyota Estima, but mostly hoping that one of the US car makers comes out with a hybrid minivan. Ideally a Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country hybrid will be available in the (hopefully) near future. I would REALLY like this with a hybrid option.

Other than breaking the bank to fill my gas tank, everything went smoothly with transporting my MIL to her doc appointment today. Her hopes for a surgical solution to some foot problems she has been happening did not manifest. With her poor circulation though, this is a good thing. She is definitely not a surgical candidate. Her toes and feet are almost constantly blue with lack of circulation. The option she was given was to try a solution through orthotics. The problem with that? Her insurance won’t pay for it since she “only” has MS. If she were diabetic or had CP they would cover it, but not with MS.

Don’t even get me started on how much of a crock of bull I think that is.

I think that your support and helping your MIL, is wonderful. You are an Angel.
I pray that God will richly bless you.

I agree with you about the gas prices.
I refuse to go anywhere unless I HAVE to.
Hopefully the gas prices will come down soon.

Ford Explorer hibred will be out this year. Keep in mind that all the American hibreds will be in their infancy, with all the bugs to be ironed out. Bugs, I might add, that the first gneration buyers are going to be the guinea pigs who encounter them first.

Toyota has had their hibred technology on the road for over six years, and has construction plants that hire American labor right here in the US. And they're planning to put hibred technology in the their van and truck line starting (I think) with 2005.

Don't even mention gas prices to me. I have been driving my surburban 98 miles to work and back on scheduled days at $2.29 a gallon!! I thinking along the same lines you are about a hybrid, but not for a few more months.
    DID YOU WATCH SURVIVOR YET??????
