Anticipating a leisurely day, I puttered around the house, and then met Frannikins for lunch. While we were ordering, the phone rang. Would I please come to the school regarding an incident with #1? Fran and I got our lunch to go, and then headed over to the school to investigate what was going on THIS time.
About 30 or so minutes later we left the school with #1 in tow. He is suspended for the rest of the week.
Oh joy.
Well, for the afternoon, he turned the soil in one of the beds I plan to plant in the next couple days. He cleaned the bathroom. He took out all the garbage. He unloaded, and then re-loaded the dishwasher. He preformed kennel duty (the most hated job in the house, which he will now be doing daily for the next month). He has done dinner dishes, and now he is in his room about to be sent to bed for the evening.
One thing I can say is that I’m truly learning more patience with this kid. I may not feel it at the time, but when looking back over the day I realize just how much effort was put into the practice of said virtue.
As of now, I’m anticipating having a very clean house for the next week. #1 has been informed that he will be my slave, and that he is grounded from everything but my whim for the next month.
You know, I think I would prefer a messy house and well behaved kids.
