What's the big deal? Shouldn't people be entitled to legally bind themselves to the person they choose to spend the rest of their life with?
I know there are other issues involved with the controversy over same sex marriages, but this is the one that really gets under my skin. I have problems with employers throwing a fit over disallowing medical coverage or any other benefits for people who live and choose a lifestyle different from what they consider to be normal. If Joe Schmoe can support his unemployed artist wife and have her on his medical coverage, why can't the person next to him who has a same sex partner have the same options?
