Monday Morning Surprise
Mon Jan 05 2004

I awoke this morning to discover that the schools were delayed 2 hours today due to snow and ice. So, with the kids still asleep I did what any reasonable and sleep deprived American adult would do. I went back to bed for 2 hours.

Now I'm reluctantly up and ushering the kids into preparedness for their first day back to school. Things are progressing well for #1 & #2 in their morning preparations. #3 is another matter. He definitely woke up with an attitude that just screams Spank Me Now And Get It Over With. His attitude seems to have originated when I wouldn't let him play his game boy while eating breakfast. Now he is on a rampage and seems determined to make everyone as miserable as he is right now. I just issued him his last chance offer to shape up before I drop his pants and give him an attitude adjustment to correct the problem.

Ah, the joys of living with children that have mood disorders. It makes me want to reach for a LARGE bottle of Prozac myself.

Meanwhile, out in the real world… the weathermen are calling for lots and lots more snow later today. On report suggested the possibility of up to 10 inches being dumped on us tonight.

Cool.

This will mean another school delay tomorrow morning. It won't last long though, it is supposed to warm up into the 40's by tomorrow afternoon, then rain for the rest of the week. Ah, the joys of living in a convergence zone! Rain is never far from sight.

For those not familiar with this little corner of the world, the Pacific Northwest gets a LOT of rain. Other than the occasional dry spell we may having during July and August (the best time to plan a vacation to come here as there is a remote chance it may not rain during that time), we get rain. Lots and lots of rain. While it lends towards a dreary gray atmosphere, it does keep our area green and beautiful. It also helps to keep some people from moving here and increasing our local population more than it is already booming.

Now if we could just find a way to keep all the people from California to keep moving up here!

No offense Sue.

The both of you are welcome to your little frozen corner of the world. Me? I think, if and when given the option, I'll move myself to the desert.

Hi Alli...Gosh it's been awhile since I've been in here. I almost fainted when I entered and didn't see Hugh staring at me in all directions, but atleast he was waiting at the bottom of your entry for me to ogle him!!

I just caught your comment on my last entry...and after reading your entries for today, it sounds like you know eXaCtLy what I mean about my 9 year old being far more intelligent than I am!
HAR, did you see what annette wrote? She says we have to wait until they're 25 or so then our IQ jumps up about 50 points! *YAY* only 16 more years to go!

hUgGs to ya, enjoy the snow!

When I read diaries like yours, I say a prayer of thanks that I'm beyond all that. My youngest grandchild is 12 years old, and she can come visit me when *I* say so.

I've lived in the Pacific Northwest, and have no fear. I'll stay in California. But if you ever get tired of all that wet and cold, you're welcome to come to California.

That tire heater invention sounds like a good idea. I wonder if it would work?
