I made a double batch of lasagna tonight, mostly for Hubby, but also for the rest of the family. We have to literally force feed #3 any food that has flavor, so that wasn't the highlight of the dinner time. Everyone else loved it. #1 however, found me out. He came into the kitchen while I was making it, and saw me put the ground up zucchini and squash into it. I swore him to secrecy as I was concerned if Hubby knew he wouldn't eat it. #1 waited until everyone was half way through their plate, exclaiming that they loved it, when he let the cat out of the bag.
Well, #1 didn't see my other secret. I cut the amount of meat in half, and chop up mushrooms to make up the difference. The family gets bunches of veggies, they don't know it (well, up until tonight). They're happy, I'm happy and all is well with our world.
Now, there are loads of dishes to do and a kitchen to get clean. I'm delegating them to #1, who is grounded and currently my chore slave. Between Hubby and I, we've kept him quite busy today. The back yard has been scooped and cleaned (he found 7 socks that had been missing and a golf ball no one remembers having lost), the house has been vacuumed, laundry has been put away, his room cleaned, and a few other tasks attended to. If his behavior at school continues along the same track for the rest of the week as it was yesterday, I may rent him out to anyone needing LOTS and LOTS of housework or distasteful chores to do. Based on how miserable he was today, having to work while he watched his brothers play video games and watch movies with their new friends, I'm hoping he got the message about making appropriate choices at school.
I can hope!
