Stimulating the mind
Tue Sep 16 2003

I've come to the realization that with my boys, they need to have their minds stimulated in order for them to do their homework. The strange thing is, for #3 the thing that seems to most stimulate his mind is a spanking.

There must be nerve clusters in his butt that are directly connected to the learning center of his brain. He is almost completely unable to do his homework without this stimuli being applied. This is most applicable to math, which is odd as it is his best subject. Let me rephrase that, it is his best subject... when you can get him to do it. Math seems to come natural for him, and if he actually sits down and does it, he is able to do it quickly. It is just getting him to do it, which is where the spanking comes into play.

I'm reminded of the Bill Cosby routine about 20 years ago where his monologue sketches through one evening. He tells about getting his kids through dinner, and into the shower, specifying them to take off their clothes, turn on the water, get into the shower, wash themselves, rinse themselves, turn off the water, dry themselves, put on pajamas and get into bed. It cumulates in the revelation that the kids can't go to bed until they've "had their beatings".

Yep, that's homework for my kids in my house. #3 puts more time and effort into having an attitude about it and not doing it, that he would put in actually doing it.

OK, off to stimulate the mind of #3.

I find that My daughter's mind needs to be stimulated sometimes in order for her to eat at the table without throwing food. Yep... it works.
    Be good,

Try this it works. Have each kid get a pair of headphones and a CD player. Then each kid can pick a CD to listen to while they do their homework. It really works for my kids. It helps them tune out, outside distractions, and puts their mood into a better state of mind. Now my kids have trouble if a teacher won't let them wear headphones durring work time in the class room. With the music they can get their work done faster. It keeps their mind busy enough, yet quiet enough, to focus on the math,or what ever they need to be doing.

Actually, I could understand what you wrote, about the order of letters, though it took slightly longer. And actually, by the last line, I was probably reading as fast as I normally do. Interesting, but annoying. lol.
Also, music works wonders with me. I always pop a CD into my headset, or if I'm typing a report, pull up my mp3s(shhhh!) and get finished in no time. Definetly a good suggestion for the boys
