Today will require LOTS of caffeine
Sun Sep 15 2002

After church we will be driving down to visit with my MIL and briefly stop by SIL's to drop something off for my niece. As hubby is in the middle of trying to get his Cisco Certification, I suspect I will be doing all the driving while he has his nose in a book. Due to this I suspect I will be stopping by somewhere to get a 6 pack of Dr. Pepper or Pepsi to consume on the trip. Either that or a fat free double shot mocha mint if I can find an Espresso stand open on a Sunday!

While the trend is spreading, I have found it amusing for years that you can always recognize someone from the Pacific NW by how they order coffee. Ten years ago in Japan, you could tell just by someone looking for an Espresso stand. The same went for eight years ago in Mississippi. No one there had heard of a mocha, much less served one. I think starting with Starbucks and continuing with the other coffee moguls, the trend has spread across the US. I understand from friends that there are even drive thru espresso stands in Japan near the US bases.

I wonder how soon it will be that they offer IV hookups to caffeine sources?

Hmmm, maybe I see if they will add that into my paramedic protocols. "If the patient presents with withdrawal syptoms from Starbucks coffee, start an I.V. with desired flavor and infuse at a rapid rate until the patient sighs happily."

I do believe there is such a thing as a 'national taste'.
Flavoured coffees are not big here.
    Starbucks struggle to stay afloat.
    Coffee is coffee.
Why would anyone want it to taste like a mint anything?
    Oh well, caffiene is caffiene.
    De gustibus non disputandum est.
IV - no thanks, it'll never sell, here anyway.
Just give me a 'proper cup of coffee in a proper coffee cup' (say fast 20 times)!
    Ciao

Ah yes, looking after elderly parents can be difficult.
I can understand your hubby's dilemma.
