Ugh
Wed Sep 11 2002

I am so tired this morning. It is definitely a go back to bed morning. Without taking the Melatonin I am unable to fall asleep before double digit numbers or the wee hours of the morning.

I forsee today as being either a high caffeine intake day, or a high nap probability day.

When I was finally able to fall asleep, I dreampt that I was painting my house all night long. I think my SIL's activities are leaking over into my own life! I felt like I was working all night.

My big chore for the morning is convincing the kids that brushing the teeth is not an optional activity!

The things that outrage me these day are things like terrorists killing thousands of innocent people.
Most other things pale to insignificance somehow.
People making commercial gain out of other's suffering is de riguer in the land of the free, is it not?
I don't particularly like that sort of thing but I'm not surprised or outraged.
Don't buy a card and put them out of business :)
    Anyway, take care!

Alli, I think you are perfectly right about the ovesensationalism to make this a day for greeting card companies to rack up som $$$. While it is certainly a day for mourning and reflection- I think we can all do that privately without a week of shows - purposely done to elicit a certain response from us- and other stuff that follows. It irritates me.

Thanks for the comment! I love Memphis (well parts of it anyway) and we try to go a few times a year to catch some of our favorite blues artists. Nothin' like celebrating an anniversary with the blues! LOL

Just stumbled upon your journal and read this entry. I wanted to let you know that you are not alone in your thoughts about 9/11 being commercialized. My boyfriend is deployed to Afghanistan right now and in addition to having some of the same thoughts as you did on this years 9-11 while watching all on t.v. I found myself being outraged because very little were our troops and soldiers mentioned throughout the day. (I sat in front of the tv all day long)
I am very saddened, still, by the deaths that occurred, but these guys continue to risk their lives and once more they've been seemingly forgotten.

Alright, I'm off my soapbox now! Sorry! Glad to have found your journal! (Love the poster too!)
