#1, #3 and myself got most of the kidney weeded. Hubby & #3 constructed a cover for part of the dog run. We're hoping this will stop Jake's habit of going potty in the garage when it's raining out. Time will tell on that aspect.
While weeding part of the back yard, I found three volunteer tomato plants that are better looking and healthier than the two plants we intentionally planted. Go figure.
Most of my veggies this year were a bust. I planted at about the saame time I plant every year, but 2 nights after I planted we had a frost, and then it started raining, and didn't stop for about a month and a half. Of the entire garden we got about 5 onions and 2 raddishes. Everything else froze or washed away.
I also cooked up a batch of pearsauce today. I'm not sure if the family will like it or not, so I started with a small batch. If they like it, I will plan to do several quarts. I've also got more apples to put up, and need to continue to do apples for the next several weekends. I could easily put up 100 quarts of applesauce, and if I don't hide some they will all be gone by Christmas. My family REALLY likes applesauce. I'm hoping they like the pearsauce as much as the applesauce.
Now, as for the reward.
Hubby and I picked up 2 liters of Root Beer (one diet, one regular) and 2 containers of vanilla ice cream (one no-sugar, one regular), and it's Root Beer Floats for everyone tonight! YUM!
