When Some News is No News,, a.k.a. Another Hurry Up and Wait
Thu Jun 18 2009

I get a voicemail from a nurse at the clinic, the message states that the MRI shows that the interior meniscus is torn, and I should get in right away to see the doctor as a follow up. So, I call to make a follow up appointment. The soonest they can get me in is July 7.

I can say without hesitation, that I’m really sick of waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting. It’s been three and a half weeks since I injured my knee, and they can’t get me in until July 7?????

It is time to start looking for a civilian doctor under my insurance instead of sticking with the military doctors. I had no problems when the Air Force ran the clinic, I could get in to see my doc in a timely manner. Now? Not so much.

Now to go dig up my Big Book of Providers, I’m fairly sure I know which drawer I put it in.

Hope you find somebody decent. I got lucky years ago when a friend recommended mine. A lot easier than searching through those lists. Maybe someone you know has one they can recommend.

It's not any better in the civilian world. A typical wait is 2-3 weeks for an appointment anywhere these days and heaven help you if you need a specialist. I'm at week six of an eight week wait on that one.

    Hope you have better luck.
