ALWAYS go to the bathroom before you get in line; particularly for roller coasters.
Weekdays (not including Fridays) during the off season are the BEST time to go to Disneyland. The longest line we found was 5 minutes.
It is definitely worth spending the extra money to stay in one of the Disney hotels.
It takes at least two days for your feet to recover from 3 days in the Disney Park. Possibly up to a week if you don’t have good cushion or support in your shoes.
The tour guides for the “Walking in Walt’s footsteps” know lots of good (G-rated) groaner jokes about Disney-oriented characters. (They don’t know the R-rated joke about Snow White and Pinocchio however)
Crocks “seem” like they would be a good choice for footwear in the park. After several hours, Crocks cause blisters in very unsightly and painful places on your feet.
Apparently after the aforementioned several hours in Crocks, it is more comfortable to walk barefooted across broken glass than to continue to wear the Crocks. (A note here, this is not my experience, this is an overheard experience of what appeared to be a girl in her late teens or early 20’s)
After 6 to 8 hours in the park with young children, Disneyland is no longer the happiest place on earth. (As overheard on the Monorail by the parents of two children approximately 3 and 5 years old)
A small child can apparently throw up twice his or her body weight in Technicolor liquid on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. (As overheard from a cast member in janitorial services while walking through Fantasyland).
The “tour guides” on the Jungle Cruise get irritated when you try to rock the boat.
Disneyland welcomes patrons who require a service dog to accompany them.
There are several rides service dogs can accompany their people on.
Service dogs REALLY don’t like the Haunted Mansion. (As witnessed by us during the ride)
The best place to find a place to sit down is in Frontierland. There are more benches, and fewer people.
If you want good seats for the fireworks or the Fantasmic show in New Orleans Square on the waterfront, find your seats and guard them fiercely at minimum of 2 hours before the show begins.
If you want to buy a t-shirt or sweatshirt with your favorite Disney character, and your favorite character is someone other than Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Grumpy, Dopey, Tinkerbelle, Tigger, Jack Skellington, or any of the Pirates, you are out of luck. (Although there was ONE t-shirt with Pluto, only available in children’s sizes).
The longest line in the park (at this time at least) is for Finding Nemo (or whatever it’s called). While it’s aimed at the younger kids, it’s moderately interesting for those of us who are familiar with the old submarine ride.
The Fast Pass is the greatest invention on earth.
They need to have a Fast Pass for the restrooms.
The French Market Restaurant (located on the right as you get off the train in New Orleans square) seems to have the best value and healthiest choices for lunch/dinner in the park.
I’m sure there are more lessons and other stuff I learned, but I’m tapped out now, and it’s time to go check on #1. We arrived home yesterday to find that #1 had fallen ill Friday and was under the weather all weekend. I stayed home today to force liquids into him along with cold meds and Tylenol. He seems to be better this evening, but I still need to get more liquids into him before the day is over.
