Winding Down
Tue Dec 30 2008

The Christmas party the kids were supposed to have last week got snowed out. Now they’re planning a New Years Eve party for tomorrow night. I’ve already spread the word that anyone driving who is here after 10, will be here for the night.

I don’t want to send teens out on the road during the heavy drinking hours.

I’ve got #1 and his girlfriend planning activities; #2 and his girlfriend planning food; #3 playing pesky little brother to make sure that #1 and #2 don’t disappear into their bedrooms with their girlfriends tomorrow during the day while I’m at work.

He is basically being paid to be himself, and rat his brothers out. How sweet of a deal is that?

As for me, I’m working. There is no snow to hinder my drive to work, so I leave before the sun comes up, and get home after the sun goes down. I usually leave for work at about 7 in the morning, and I get home at about 6:30 in the evening. I anticipate needing to leave earlier and get home later after the first of the year when the light holiday traffic becomes a thing of the past.

Boy am I looking forward to the new facility being built closer to where I live. Too bad it won’t be done until 2012. Until then I’m looking forward to Hubby getting home so I can start taking the train to and from work and cut about a half hour off my commute each way.

OK, enough grumbling for now; I haven’t tried to trap any of the kids in their rooms for “the sex talk” in a while. It’s about time to do that again.

For those out there with younger kids, this is more effective in a moving car. They can’t get away from you that way.

Good luck with the New Year's party. Everyone should have a #3 in the household!! That conversation needs to be held on a fairly regular basis, I discovered.

    Spies are good.

    ;-)

You are waiting for your new building like I am waiting for the Raley's grocery store to go in just a few miles from us. They have been promising for years. It will be close enough that if I really wanted to, I could ride my bike there. I hope your building goes ahead of schedule!!!
