The New Year
Sun Jan 04 2009

I'm sorry, but I refuse to accept that it is the New Year already. I'm not done with my Christmas shopping yet. I'm not even prepared to admit that time has flown so quickly during 2008.

I think I'll go sink my head in the sand and pronounce to everyone I come across that it is still December 15th or so, 2008. I'll completely ignore anyone who tries to tell me otherwise!

In other news... or whatever...

My folks called this morning, would we like them to take us out to breakfast and then up to see my Grandma? I hadn't gotten the chance to deliver her gift yet (three cashmere scarves), so #3 and I took them up on the offer. #1 and #2 were at church with their girlfriends (something I'm not questioning, just accepting), so they did not get to join us.

I also finally made turkey soup today. I've been trying to make it all week, with the remains of the turkey waiting in my freezer for me. I did the broth yesterday, then completed the soup today. I always use leftover mashed potatoes for thickening my soup, and add turnips to it in addition to the carrots, tomato, barley and plethora-o-herbs and spices. I did it with homemade noodles one year and rice another year; it just wasn't the same as with barley.

So now it is out in the back of my truck cooling off (not enough room in the fridge), and tomorrow it will be split into half, one for freezing and one for dinner tomorrow and Tuesday.

I love turkey soup season! My house smells SO good, and the dinners are SO yummy!

the thing about people being so cold and callous is that is shows how there is no love in people. shove your nose in shit, deny the maker and that is all it is. why i don't go to a church is because there is no show of love, compassionless, faceless and heartless, and i have no kids

OK, I'm not going to argue with you about the date. But I do have an appointment with my doctor on the 5th of January, which seems to be tomorrow.

I love the smell of good cooking!
