Who Turned Out The Lights?
Thu Nov 16 2006

We had a storm blow through here yesterday that uprooted trees and took the power out with it. It flickered on for a short time in the afternoon then blinked out again until sometime early this morning.

The storm had us housebound as there were trees down between us and the major thoroughfares.

It’s safe to say that last night was a Dark And Stormy Night in the Allimom neck of the woods.

We fired up a fleet of candles and sat around with the boys chatting until Hubby and I proclaimed it to be bed-time. I would have slept soundly through the night had Stormy (an appropriate name for her last night) not woken us up when the power came back on. I’m not sure what time it was as all the clocks were flashing 12:00. I let Stormy out to do her thing and then we went back to bed.

Hubby’s cell phone and my watch woke us up on time this morning and after the kids got off to school I spent a good amount of time going around resetting all of our clocks.

Now, I’m taking a break from homework to write in here and check my e-mail, and then I’m back to the books. Wish me luck!

Had a phone call from daughter today. She's buying a camp stove so she can cook when the power goes out. She lives in an all-electric house. I foresee a lot of camp-out-style cooking.

I hope your power outages get fixed quicker than they do here.

    Shalom

Because we live in an area that is very prone to violent storms the alarm clock in our bedroom has a battery back up which is quite handy AND if the power goes off in the night, we're never late getting up.

R was just reading over my shoulder and asked me if I realised that our cell phones have alarms on them *rolls eyes*.

Power cuts are the most annoying things! Good to hear it wasn't out for too long. I hate having to replace all the spoiled food from the Fridge/Freezer when it's a while before it's restored. *sigh*
