Hubby has tomorrow off, so he is going to dig into the van to see if he can find and fix the leak in the roof.
The van has a roof rack on it (which we never use), and I suspect that a seal around one of the screws is the source of the leak. We will find out. Right now almost the entire inside is drenched. It should take some doing to get it dry and clean. We will start by covering it in a tarp and running a space heater in it to start drying it up.
Hey Bobbi, is there anywhere a person can rent a de-humidifier?
I think I will talk to Hubby about seeing if we can find someone to take the roof rack off, patch the holes and match the paint so this doesn't happen again next year. Either this, or another leak happened last winter. We thought we had it fixed, but apparently not.
Actually, my dream vehicle situation is that I get a good paying job next year after graduating, we spend the first few paychecks paying off the credit cards, then stash a couple paychecks in a savings account and replace the van.
There are advantages and disadvantages to this scenerio.
I want a smaller car (Prius is my dream car, but I'll consider other like vehicles), so the advantages at the gas pump are obvious for that. However, the kids will all still be living with us. At the very least we have until June 2008 with the twins, so I need a vehicle big enough for everyone when we need to go somewhere together (live to visit family or go camping). I suppose we could use a shoe horn and get all of us into an SUV, but more likely we will have to go the route of a mini-van if we replace it that soon.
It's not a Prius, but it is a good sight better than the monster van we have now! I've been eyeballing the Saturn Relay and the Chrysler Town & Country as potentials if we have to do it that soon.
Who knows? Maybe it will end up being an easy fix for the van and we will be good to go for a few more years.
