Satisfaction, But Will It Last?
Sat Oct 14 2006

OK, I didn't have the kids mow the lawn this morning as it is WAY too wet. We did have satisfaction over the party last night though.

There were six of us neighbors that I talked with directly who are fed up with these kids. We all agreed that after a certain time if there was ANY noise we were calling the police. As a result, the cops came out the first time to deliver a warning around 11:00. This was after the kids that actually live in the house were loudly bragging about disrupting their neighbors and yelling obscene comments to those of us who live around him that they know are watching them.

It always goes the same way, the kids have a lookout that warn them when the police come, and they all run inside, turn off the music and lights until the police go away. Last night there was one unfortunate young man who had passed out in his car and woke up after the police got there. He was questioned by them (obviously drunk as a skunk but protesting that he was just very tired), warned to keep it down and then the police came over to talk to myself and one of my next door neighbors. He told us that this was their warning, but if there were more calls he would break up the party. He left, we went inside, and the kids came outside yelling things along the line of “thanks for calling the police, but you can’t stop our party”. They then all got on their cell phones and we could hear them calling more friends to come to the party. We waited about 30 minutes, 6 or 7 more cars and about 15 more people arrived at the party, and the calls went into the police again.

Shortly after midnight the police once again came out, this time pounding on the door and ordering everyone to get out and go home. We watched 40 or 50 young people file out of the houses, get into most of the cars and drive away. We were skeptical as there were still about 5 cars parked along the road that didn’t belong there.

We watched the police give one of the young men who live in the house a citation ($200 for breaking the noise ordinance) and we hoped that would be the end of it.

About a half hour later, a dozen or so of the kids returned in two cars. We watched them park a good distance up the road and sneak back into the house. Fortunately we didn’t have to call the police again. About a half hour after arriving they all left, most of them were the owners of the cars that had been left behind after the earlier exodus.

We are fairly certain these kids will also be getting another parking violation notice from the Homeowners Association, which should be a $500 fine this time. This weekend will have cost these kids in excess of $700. Hopefully this will encourage them to submit to the eviction without any more belligerences.

If not, we continue to call when they have parties and let them rack up more fines. No sweat off my back, I’m quite proficient at calling 911.

Funny to think that in 20 years those kids will be screaming at their own kids for this sort of crap and not think twice about it. I'd love to give each and every one of them an elbow to the ribs. I never behaved like that when I was their age, this is unbelieveable!!

It's crap that you have to put up with that kind of thing and it's a cop out on the part of the property managers that they "had" to rent to them.

Glad that you and your neighbors banded together but there was really no choice in that, was there? *sigh*.

    Hope they're gone soonest!

If the cops would show up in unmarked cars, the lookout wouldn't be able to give warning.

And if the property management people came out with and a peremptory eviction notice along with the sheriff or police or marshal, there wouldn't be any delay in their departure.

Hope you get some peace soon.
