The situation with the kids across the street took an interesting turn this week.

It seems when they were served with their eviction notice last week, they announced to the property managers and the world that they would NOT be moving and if the PM’s wanted to get them out of the house they needed to get the police to come drag them out.

So… the PM’s took the kids to court this week to get a court order to get them out of the house. I don’t know what the outcome of that was, but I’m sure I’ll hear about it in the next couple days as one of my neighbors is friends with the PM that handles that house.

Some of the neighbors have decided to take some small, benign actions as response to the late night parties and noise the kids make almost every night. Seeing that tonight is Friday, we suspect there will be a good sized party tonight. If that is the case, several of us will need to mow our lawns tomorrow quite early in the morning. The parties have typically run through the night until between 3 and 4 in the mornings to date. My lawn will be mowed tomorrow between 7 and 8, and one of my next door neighbors assures me that his lawn will need to be mowed immediately after mine.

We’ve also shared the information about the police with the neighbors. They all now know that the police here will not respond to just one call on a non-violent call. There has to be a minimum of three calls from three different residences before a car will be sent out in response. We’ve all decided that any noise after 11 tonight will result in a call to 911.

Harassment? Yes. But we are sick of the noise, and we all paid too much for our homes to tolerate the behavior any longer. The yard of the house is unkempt and scattered with garbage, the male party guests urinate off the porch throughout the duration of the party, and the noise has kept most of us up every night.

We’re mad as hell and we aren’t going to take it any longer!

Good on you! The lawn-mowing relay sounds like a great idea.

In my flatting (house-sharing) days, I once had a flatmate who used to come home very drunk in the early hours every Friday night, and proceed to wake us up with his crashing around, singing, and loud vomiting in the bathroom. We tried asking politely for him to either moderate his drinking or find a new flat with more party-friendly residents, but he refused to do either.

So my other flatmates and I decided that every time he woke us up, we'd clean the house early the next morning. So bright and early every Saturday morning we'd vaccuum the hallway outside his room, and put a load of washing on (the laundry room was next to his bedroom, and the washing machine was old and unbalanced, so made a *lot* of noise!). It only took a few weekends of this before he decided maybe he should move out after all.

Hope your plan is equally successful!

It is so gratifying when a plan comes together. :)

I don't suppose anybody has any power washing that needs to happen......those make a lovely noise as well. vroom...vroom.

I'd be making a trip to Home Depot for some wood and start hammering on it bright and early... or even after the lawnmowing is over just so they can't nap. Seems like the boys would enjoy that and goodness knows those pounding noises carry a long long way around here.

How DID it go last night?

I would be so mad. Maybe you should video tape them urinating in public so you can press charges for that too.
