Painful For Everyone
Sun Nov 06 2005

About 10 years ago, my MIL reached a point in her health where she was no longer able to work, live on her own or care for herself.  In a very short time frame she went from having difficulties to being in a wheel chair.  She was eventually diagnosed with MS.

In that time we have watched her health go down hill to the point where she is unable to speak, she is losing her vision, she has lost almost all motor skills, and many other aspects of her health has degraded leaving her completely dependent on others for help and care.

More recently we have all seen signs of her slipping mentally.  Hubby has been in total denial about it, but after receiving a letter from her recently, he has to face the fact that she may be slipping.

In this letter, she starts out by telling Hubby that he is going to go to hell, and she then proceeds to tell him that his BIL bought a new car and it is gray.

We read the letter, looked at each other and shook our heads.  We aren’t sure why his mother is so convinced that he isn’t a Christian, and why she felt the need to write him a letter telling him that he is going to hell.  But the most baffling was why she would follow that statement up with something as innocuous as the comments about the new car purchased by SIL’s hubby.

I guess we should be grateful that she is still able to write.  That is overshadowed by our concern about her physical and mental health, and her future.

I'm so sorry. What an awful thing. Please know that she doesn't know what she's saying.

    Hugs
