Pickles & Meteors
Wed Aug 10 2005

Today is another day of pickling, but the primary focus will be towards Dilly Beans. Yummy! This is one that I need to be sure to get more from the market and put up lots. Between #2 and #3 they could easily go through a few pints a day if given the opportunity.

I do have a batch of regular pickles to can today that has been soaking for the last couple days in a variety of different solutions. I’m really looking forward to those! The recipe states that it produces a truly crunchy pickle, and the addition of garlic does nothing but make it better! I love garlic dills!

I was going to do the shopping for the camping trip this morning after taking #3 to a doc appointment, but I forgot the shopping list. It will have to wait until tomorrow. Oh well, it gives me the opportunity to make sure I have everything I we need. I think Hubby and I will be going through all the camping gear also to be sure that there was nothing taken out to put in my folks 5th wheel. It would suck to get to the camping site only to find that some of the gear got taken to Alaska last spring!

We are all really looking forward to getting to a place that will better afford us to watch the meteor shower. I was tempted last night to drive a bit out to see if I could catch some of it going on now. I ended up falling asleep (HURRAY!) and didn’t do it. I may see if I can catch any tonight or tomorrow night. Maybe Hubby and I could set up our chairs out in the back and enjoy a beer while seeing if we can catch any of the show. WE will see how tired we are!

Wonder what happened to my comment? Well, I'll repeat, so if it shows up twice, you'll know that the cybergremlin was at work.

Between you and CovertOps, I'm exhausted. Where do you find your energy?

Garlic pickles? Yum! If it isn't sweet, I put garlic in it. Love it!

    Shalom

Those dilly beans sound so good. Mom has a bumper crop of apples on right now and called last night to tell me to come and get them.

Im planning on putting up applesauce, pie filling, and dried apples that I will pack using the food saver once they are dried. Yum!

My mother makes these most years when she is canning. Of course, we love them and eat them every chance we can get. They are a good appetizer or addition to a meal. Have a great Thursday!!

You are so lucky. We don't get to see many if any meteor showers up here. Only the Northern lights.
    Oh well...

Hugs and love from the last frontier,
