Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince (no real spoilers)
Mon Jul 18 2005

The book arrived mid-day Saturday and once the boys realized it was here there was much rejoicing. I must say, for a while there on Saturday, it was quite noisy in the Allimom household.

#1 managed to get a few chapters read Saturday evening and Sunday morning before he had to take off for camp.

#2 managed to get a few chapters read Saturday before #1 discovered the book had arrived, and reluctantly let #1 have the book while he was still home. He then got himself grounded Sunday morning, and the only item in his grounding is that he cannot read the book for a week.

I got the book read between Saturday (after #1 went to bed) and Sunday (after he left).

It was (I reluctantly admit) a good book. I laughed. I cried. I got pissed off at J.K. Rowling.

That’s all I’m going to say about it.

I’ll probably read it again in the next few days, but I need to get over being mad first.

I have only read the first 28 pages. Hub Man read a few chapters last night. It's my turn today. I'll see how far I can get. But you can bet I won't be finishing it today! I don't read THAT fast... You are the master there! :-)

You can change the one minute box to 2 or 3 minutes. You will get a better score I bet. After a minute or so, you sort of settle into your normal reading rythmn ( I think ) I got a better score at three minutes than at one, that's all I know. :-)

Then it seems to me that you are reading over 900 words per minute. There IS no more text for the test! So if you click on the last word at the end of one minute, you are at 850 to 900 wpm. If you finished WAY before that, then you are really fast. You need another test! If you find a different one on the net, let me know....

    Here's one!

On this one, I got 303 WPM and 91% comprehension.

The other one was 850 wpm. Somebody is wrong! :-)

Now I AM curious to get an accurate test!

Just joining the crowd of pissed off people at J.K. Rowlings. I was rather upset by the big suprise, but I suppose it had to happen eventually. Right? Does'nt someting always go wrong in a good book series? Now i'm really wondering about book 7 and what that will eventually entail.

I plan to re-read the whole set again in October. That's probably how long it will take me to get over being mad, lol.

    ROFL at the twins!

It hadn't been my intention to buy the new Harry Potter for a while but I was gripped by 50% off madness while at WalMart yesterday. I managed to make it through about 300 pages and wonder if I can get away with reading it while locked in the bathroom at work. Probably no one would notice the extended absences *laffs*

Your boys are a caution (idiom used in my hometown to express dismay, wonderment, amusement)!

    Yeah, I'm laughing.

I haven't bought Harry Potter yet, in fact, I don't have books 5 or 6 yet. I'm sure I'll be picking them up as soon as I can. I can't wait to see what happens next in the story. God bless.

    Hiya! I'm so sad.
I happened upon a spoiler in a journal I read regularly and it was like a deer in the headlights, or a train wreck...I COULDN'T LOOK AWAY!! I was devastated.
I'm on page 564 and probably moments away from what I now dread the most....*sigh* damn spoilers!

I'm prepared to join the 'pist off at Jo Rowling' club, and will swear in as soon as I'm done reading!

P.S. Out of the mouth of babes huh? What humor!!

You can tell all about the book and what happens and it does not spoil it for me. That is how I find out if I like the book or not. But I love Harry Potter and will read it anyway.

I came upon a book by accident called, Devotion by Katherine Sutcliffe. I loved it. It is mostly a sort of love story.
I then got Obsession by same author. She picks up where she lift off in Devotion. I listened to it all in one day. *I listen to books on tape*
I loved it. I just wanted to share this with you.

Just reading some of your past entries, catching myself up on a fraction of the things that I missed and I about died laughing at the rectal comment! Great sense of humor on that kid! *LOL*

And I can't really say too much about Harry Potter. I finished reading it the day that I got it, I think I slept about 2 hours that night. *L*

But, alas, I'm afraid the window for comment and discussion has already passed. ;)
