What more could I ask than a romantic get-away to Las Vegas for a computer convention?
I know, I'm sick.
#1 got off bright and early this morning for camp. This is a camp on the east side of the state for church youth groups from all over. There will be about 1500 kids there engaging in rock climbing, skateboarding, water skiing/boarding/tubing, river rafting, swimming, and various other athletic sports. There is also a water park there with water slides and wave runners available. They will be in 15 man tents, and #1 is there with a couple friends from when we lived on base. The church they go to is a bit of a drive for us, but if I can't find something close to us with a good youth program, I'm going to see if I can talk hubby into us checking out their church. Their youth program alone would be worth the drive if we can't find anything closer to us.
On the home front ... the problematic neighbors have been less so recently. They are no longer parking all over the street and blocking driveways. The middle of the night loud conversations have decreased, although two of them get off work at midnight and "cool off" out on their front porch, it is still better than it was.
My garden is going crazy. We couldn't eat the lettuce quick enough and it bolted, as did the chard. I think the ones I have out there are possible world record size. The leaves almost look more like rhubarb. The tomato bushes seem to have liked the weather, although while they have grown like crazy and do have some flowers, I have yet to see any significant fruit. I have faith I will see some soon though. My peppers have little budding fruits on them, and my pumpkins look like mutants. Unfortunately I don't think the okra is going to do anything this year. It was too cool for too long this spring and they just didn't take hold. If I decide to try again next year, I need to remember to keep them in the green house for as long as possible. Or possibly get those little "bubbles" to go over them out in the garden.
I also need to remember next year to put all the tomato's in planters and maybe bring them up closer to the house.
So much to think about!
OK, I'm off to (hopefully) finish Harry Potter.
