Tuesday Thoughts & Trivial Titterings
Tue May 24 2005

This morning has been an exercise in patience getting #3 through his school work for the day. It is just about 12:30, and he is on his last assignment other than his state report. We will work on that after we go get him a couple supplies he needs for it at the store. He has to create a tri-fold presentation for his state (Wyoming).

Am I the only parent who dislikes this type of a project for their kids? A couple years ago we talked one of the twin’s teachers to let him create a web page instead of a tri-fold. He was excited about it, so doing it went quickly and the results were far better than they would have been if he was limited to a tri-fold.

After he is done with this, we will go outside and do some more planting. Which reminds me… I’d better go take and antihistamine now, rather than wait until I’m itching, choking and sneezing.

I too am very passionate about school projects. Many of the experienced teachers just re-use lesson plans, despite being behind the times. But schools won't hire the younger, more up to date teachers because they have no experience!

I'm stoked that Bo made it to the final. I'm not so sure he had one of the two best voices though - but we'll see I guess :o)

No, I'm not a fan of those type of projects either. For the most part my kids really did not learn anything from making posters other than how to make a poster. For the artistic ones it was an easy A. For everyone else (including Me) it was just traumatic.
