I’ve been playing in the dirt since the kids got home from school. It started with transplanting my avocado into a larger pot. It outgrew the one it was in several months ago, and I’ve finally gotten around to transplanting it. I also transplanted one of my house plants into the pot the avocado was in as it was in desperate need of a larger home also.
I’ve gotten several more Heliotrope into the dirt, as well as three different types of tomatoes and Giant Thai Hot peppers. They have been settled into their beds, now it is time to start on the rest. I’ve got 150 little peat pots to fill, and I’m determined to get them all planted before bedtime tonight.
I’m not obsessed. Really!
I’ve also got a couple rhubarb plants in the garage that #1 wanted to get, but he has wimped out on helping me plant, so those will have to wait until later or tomorrow. I will be starting them in a couple of my larger pots on the chance that I will not have room in the gardens we will be building this year. They can live in 5 gallon containers until next year if necessary.
I am home with the kids tonight instead of going to class as the kids are choosing to exhibit some of the more antagonistic sides of their personalities. While it is remotely possible that taking one of them out of the mix and swearing the other two to good behavior on the threat of being grounded for life would work for the evening, I’m not taking any chances. Instead, I’ve got #1 and #2 separated into opposite ends of the house, and #3 helping me plant.
With the table currently in use, and me playing in the dirt and not ready to clean up yet, it seemed that the best course for dinner is pizza. Dominoes are on the way as I type. I’ve got the cash out and ready to swap for three hot yummy pizzas, and I suspect it will be a race for the door between the boys and Indigo when the bell rings. I don’t think the driver will appreciate bills with drool on them, so I’ll have the boys pay for it.
I know Indigo will gladly volunteer to do all the eating if they do all the paying.
