Plantings
Fri Apr 15 2005

Well, I didn't get all 150 done. I did however get 50 new veggies started and 50 flowers started. Probably more on the flowers, the count is a bit imprecise when dealing with seeds as small as the Nicotania and Snap Dragons.

Once again I’m going for scent, but also color. This tray is comprised of a few different types of Sweet Peas (dwarf and climbing), Nicotania, Snap Dragons and Money Plants. The next tray (hopefully I’ll get it done this weekend) will be Holly Hocks, Stock, Freesia, and a few others that escape my mind right now.

I’m also hoping for some good weather in the very near future. We need a week or two of mostly dry weather so the fences can dry out and we can get stain on them. I’m eager for this as I can’t put the trellis’ up on them until after they’re stained. Until I get the trellises up I can’t get my Clematis put out. I really want them out soon! My Niobe looks like it is going to burst into bloom any day now, and the others are coming along fairly quickly also.

Warm/Dry weather will also give us the opportunity to get my raised beds in. The sooner those are in the better! Of course I still need to figure out how I want to do my beans. I don’t know if I want to do a Tee-Pee or a trellis of sorts for them. Good thing I have time to decide!

Hubby gets home tonight, and I’m very much looking forward to it. I need to be able to do homework this weekend uninterrupted, and that won’t happen if he is not here. Of course, if the weather continues like today, I may not be able to do it if he is here. All this rain definitely encourages staying indoors.

I am hoping also that we can go to the Spring Fair tomorrow. I’m sure the things I want to see will bore Hubby and the boys to death, so maybe I’ll go alone, or just take one of the boys with me.

    Freesia.

Now here is a flower I have never grown. What are they like? How tall? Tolerate heat? Reseed themselves? Perenial? Annual? Do tell!

I'm left wondering how long it will be before I recognize those names. I'm happy if I find something I like and can plant without killing. The amazing thing is our rose bushes are still alive - and actually thriving. Can't wait until they bloom! You'll have to post pictures later.

We are still getting frost too, it was only 33 the other morning. Some of my pots are blooming with last years annuals I trimmed back. I'm hoping for sun on the coast today so the guys can at least geth the lawn mowed while I sit here in my ambulance at work. (coffee people has a free wireless connection I am using). From the little pic of your pots, you yard is going to look very nice.
