The Diet Frustration
Sun Mar 06 2005

Hubby and I have tried dieting on and off for the past couple years. The dieting we have tried is nothing radical, just changing the types of food we serve. I think for the most part, the changes we tried were something we could have kept up on, and succeed with. Except... the kids won't eat the foods in these meals.

I suppose my attitude could be considered negatively, but I don't want to and will not put up with having to create two meals every night for dinner. I want to make ONE meal, and have the entire family sit down and eat it. Am I being unreasonable?

I'm considering doing just that, and letting the kids sink or swim. I will make dinner and give them a choice, eat it or not. No alternatives. The meals I've made in the past are not unreasonable, just healthy. More veggies, fewer or no starchy foods, lean grilled meats. Nothing with heavy sauces or noodles. No potatoes with or without gravy. The only fried foods are stir fried. Let the kids learn to eat these foods and like it.

It might work.

And pigs might fly out of my butt...
