Morning Ritual Deviation
Tue Oct 26 2004

Somehow, and I'm not questioning it, I was able to stumble out of bed without hitting the snooze more than once this morning. Now, this may not seem like a big deal to most people, but seeing as how I usually hit the snooze 4 to 6 times, this is a big deal for me. It means I might actually be able to better nag the kids into making sure they have everything ready to go!

I can hope anyway.

My class I normally will have Friday nights is meeting tonight after my usual Tuesday night class. My instructor won’t be available this Friday, so we’re meeting tonight. I am interested to see how this class works out. We need to have computers for the class, but the school put us in a classroom without computers. We will be bringing our laptops tonight to see if we can work around the classroom deficiencies. This should be interesting with my laptop, which is currently power challenged. As long as I can find a place to set up that is within reach of an outlet, I should be OK.

There is a situation going on at a neighboring school district that is beyond ridiculous. The school district is trying to prohibit any and all Halloween festivities in the schools. It seems that Witch costumes may be considered offensive by people who belong to the Wicca following. To avoid offending any “real life witches”, Halloween festivities are prohibited.

Is that just about the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever heard? Honestly I think all common sense and reasonable intelligence has gone out the window with all the concerns about political correctness. What, you may ask, is the most amusing aspect of this story? When the ban was first announced, it was tied to the concerns about offending Witches. Now… they are trying to say that it is really due to some children not being able to afford costumes. Come on people, do you think we actually buy this story?

The whole thing has me wanting to go find a witch costume and wear it from now until Halloween and start loitering around the schools in the offending district.

This is going to be a tough two weeks for the whole family, I'm thinking, until #3 gets properly medicated.

I don't understand why people can't accept the fact that ADHD is not brattiness. Yeah, these kids are difficult to live with, but do they WANT to be like that? Of course not. So let's give 'em a little help and a lot of leeway. Or maybe a lot of help and a little leeway.

Maybe you could use a trank???

    Shalom

Hugs to Alli! I should have crocheted you a witches nose (some of the ladies at Crochetville were looking for nose warmer patterns and someone suggested a witches nose for Halloween).
