Mouse in my Stove?
Mon Jan 07 2002

Ok so Im walking thru the house today and here this noise coming from the kitchen.

Its coming from near the stove. It almost sounds like aluminum foil being walked on by a roach or something, not some tiny bug.

So I bang the stove. I have bug spray and can massacre anything that comes running out. But nothing. Oh well?

So tonight I walk thru the house, uh oh the noise again. I walk slowly to the kitchen. So as to hear exactly where this noise is coming from. OMGOSH its under the range! I can hear the foil crinkling, BUT THEN its the nawing sound on metal. THAT AINT NO COCKROACH!

I have never ever had a rodent in my home ( ok well one that isnt a pet and supposed to be there)

So I was all freaked and afraid to live the range top to look. There is foil underneath the top to catch any food that falls thru. Thats the crinkling I heard, but the knawing on metal? EEEKS!

So I called my Mom. Its late, kids are asleep. I dont have mouse traps or anything. I dont want some little critter running around here!

She told me to live the range top and turn the oven on. He wont last long that way.

So I did it. And I didnt see anything, nor anything scamper out. I got down on the floor with a flashlight and looked underneath seeing if it would run out. NOTHING. So am I like baking a mouse in the inside of my oven somewhere? Eww gross then that will smell.

Hmmm... about 8 months ago. My garbage disposal wouldn't open. So I pulled and I tugged and it flung open and a rat had got caught in the track somehow. Mine pulling the trash compacter out killed the thing... well, kind of... it was still kind of moving. So... um... I share your pain.

Another fun Rat story was I heard the rat chewing the drywall above my bed. (the ceiling.) so I hit it with a broom and it shut up. About two days later, I was lying in bed and dry wall started to fall down on me. I jumped up, grabbed the broom and hit it again - putting a hole into my ceiling. -- Needless to say, I didn't sleep in that room for awhile.

I know :) Once you've had that encounter, made that commitment, it runs so deep you can't let it go..yet sometimes it is so, so hard. A lot of us who are 'found' often feel 'lost', it would seem.

Don't let it go, keep on moving with him...it's worth it.

    But...I know what you mean.

    Take care and God bless

Very poetic and real, your comments remind me of my struggles. "The hardest part is living in this world .. dealing with the nature of the flesh."

I've always loved the phrase, "In the world, but not of it." Now if only I could *live* that!

    Best,
    Boo :)
P.S. Thanks for your comment on my diary; I wouldn't have deleted that entry if I'd known somebody commented on it! Whoops. ;)

First of all be kind to yourself and stop fighting against the shortcomings of the flesh - accept them and learn to live in harmony with all that you are. As for the "wee beastie", well he has a life too and is driven by his "flesh" so be kind and understanding of him. If you must kill him then make it swift and as painless as you can. ~A~

Here is the verse you mentioned.

    Romans 7:15
For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

It gives me hope. I don't understand myself and what I do either. It is good to know that Paul, probably the greatest Christian that ever lived, said this.
