Sneaky Educational Stuff and Other Stuff
Sun Jul 11 2004

I’ve found a way to be sneaky about getting the kids to do educational stuff. I’ve had #1 & #2 open up diaries. Unbeknownst to them while they type their entries, long, short or in between, they are working on their writing skills. I’m not worried about spelling and such things at this point. I want to get them interested in and actually WANTING to do it first. Once I have them addicted we will work on spelling and sentence structure. I haven’t found a way to get #3 interested yet, but he keeps a hand written journal, so I will continue to encourage that for now.

Today should prove to be quiet and borderline boring. I have a day-o-laundry ahead of me, and no plans to leave the house. The one exception to that will be the short intervals I go outside to water the yard. I’m looking forward to geeking around a bit on the ‘puter, reading through the canning book some more and just relaxing. I will be doing (or getting the kids to do) some minor chores, but I don’t have anything aggressive planned for the day. It should be WONDERFUL!

I always have to pause for 10 secinds and look for those dogs...still cant see them!

Anyway....I am having one of those days too. Catching up on the 6 month old pile of clean laundry that has been screaming to be ironed. I am 3 hours into it and have about another hour to go. Right now I'm taking a break and drinking a beer. Time to get back to work soon.

    Dont strain yourself....

What you have there my dear is Miner's lettuce.
I rather doubt it was planted, as it is wild.

    It's a weed.

    And it's edible.

My mom has this in her garden too.

I've seen your mystery plant, but didn't know what it was. It's pretty, and now I know it's edible.

You're a sneaky mom. Keep up the good work. Are the boys' diaries on line? I'd like to be added to their friends list if they are.
