Hitting The Snooze Button
Sat Jul 03 2004

I'm far too tired to make a real entry right now, and I cannot guarantee that the following will make sense to anyone but me when I'm half asleep.

Bro & SIL drove up yesterday so Bro & Hubby could attend the Rush concert at a nearby town. While they were at the concert SIL and I visited and had a blast (and ice cream, ice cream is mandatory for visiting with SIL) Hubby and Bro got back from the concert around midnight. Happy, Exhausted and without voices they stumbled in looking for the quickest path to slumber land.

This morning has us up and procrastinating getting ready for our trip out of town for the weekend. When we are fully coherent this morning, we will be heading down to Vancouver for the weekend and holiday festivities. I foresee long hours in the swimming pool for today, and the entire day under the cloud covered sun watching all the stage shows at the Fort tomorrow.

If you live in NW Oregon or SW Washington and have never experienced Fort Vancouver on the 4th, you’re missing out. It has the biggest fireworks show west of the Mississippi, greasy-flavorful fair type food that is grossly overpriced, concessions in which you can find just about anything you may or may not be looking for, and all the while you will be surrounded by several thousand perfect strangers. What better way to spend the day?

The only bummer we can see for the day is that the entertainment line-up is not as good as it has been in past years, but we admit that the entertainment during the day is not why we go there. Plain and simple we go to experience America and all she is. The sights, sounds, smells and taste of what are some of the best parts of America. Hubby and I get more entertainment from people watching, #1 and #2 get the most entertainment from looking for cute girls and seeing what they can buy at the concessions (last years prize was a t-shirt with a picture of a salmon and the caption “bite me”) and #3 just loves being with the family and getting to do stuff (stuff = anything).

Now for something totally unrelated… I just saw a bit on TV on how to get rings (like from wet cups or glasses) out of woodwork. Work some Vaseline or mayonnaise into the area with the ring, buff out (repeat if necessary a few times) when it is removed as much as you can or to your satisfaction, buff the area with a clean soft cloth and mineral spirits.

I should try that on my desk sometime. Of course, with all the rings that are on here, I may want to go get a few quarts of mayo first…

See you all Monday!

I just wanted to tell you that any time i pop in and catch up on your diary I can't help but drool over the picture of the firemen. mmmm.....hahaha...

Hope your fourth goes well! (and also, update after you experiment with how to get the rings out of woodwork--I want to know if that works!)

I see your diary is just about up for review.
I am recusing myself, as I am not sure I could be impartial! ;-)
