Yesterday With Frannikins
Fri Jun 18 2004

I drove up to see Fran yesterday now that she has had the chance of settling down a bit after getting her bachelors last week and moving up to be with her Hunky-Hubby Dave. We did the mandatory quest for caffeine, resulting in iced coffee, followed by a trip to the Ballard Locks. After watching some of the boats go through them, we went over to the fish ladder to take a gander at the steelhead and sockeye that were making their trek up stream.

That left us both hungry for fish & chips, so we headed to lunch. There is nothing better after watching spawning salmon swimming through the fish ladders than grilled salmon in a cucumber-cilantro-lemon butter sauce and a side of steamed baby veggies.

Last year I introduced Fran to pear tomatoes, and she loved them. So, after lunch we headed over to Fred Meyers to get her a plant for her own to munch off of this summer.

I had hoped to be able to spend more time up with her, but I had to get home to the kids as Hubby was unable to get off work early enough to meet them home after school. I waded through traffic to get home in time to see Hubby already there. It turned out that #1 cut his foot and needed to be picked up from school. Since I couldn’t get there fast enough, Hubby went to pick him up.

Deciding that it was too hot to cook last night, we headed to Costco to get hot dogs. The temperatures outside also persuaded us that we should have ice cream before heading back out to the heat of the evening. Who are we to argue with the heat? The ice cream was very yummy!

OK, now I’m hungry. Breakfast must be found.

*I* want to go to Freddy's TOO!

    Stomp, huff, pout, whine.

I love Freddy's. It's practically perfect in every way :-)

What is it about being near the sea? It always makes me hungry too. That salmon sounded very tasty.
