I'm In Denial
Mon Jun 14 2004

The weekend can't be over. I've still got too much I want to get done before Monday starts!

OK, everyone, set your clocks back 36 hours, and we will all be set to finish our weekends!

It doesn't work that way?

Damn.

I've got several errands to run, and a doc appointment to go to this afternoon. I made a point of not asking the kids to bring me their laundry this morning so I can fake not having that in front of me for today. I'll likely regret it tomorrow, but right now I'm running with it.

The first of my clematis are blooming, the bed under my kitchen window is on the verge of exploding into color, and two of the three heliotropes in the front are struggling through abnormally low overnight temperatures for this time of the year. I need to brake out the digital camera and capture it all to put in here, but I need to wait for less cloudy weather so the pictures come out. I also need to weed one area, but I’m keeping myself in denial about that too. In truth, I’m waiting to identify one plant that has sprung up which #2 insists he planted as seeds a few months ago. Since I don’t remember him doing that, I suspect he is trying to save the lives of these little oddly shaped and slightly attractive weeds.

#1 & #2 both announced this morning that they are going to beg all their teachers for extra credit assignments to do before the end of the year. Hubby and I told them that if they both get all B’s or above, we would get them each a TV for their room. Since telling them that, they have raised their grades up from all D’s and F’s to B’s and C’s. I think at this point, of the 5 classes they need to do this in, #2’s lowest grade is a C-, with 2 C+’s, a B- and a B+. #1 has 2 C’s, 2 C+’s and a B-. How is that for effective bribery? The best part of this? If the grades are bad next year, we threaten to take the TV’s away. I’m fairly certain this tactic will work for a while at least! I should also mention that in the two elective classes, of which we don’t have the minimum B requirement, they are getting A’s and B’s in already. After getting the progress reports last Friday announcing the recent grades, the kids were rewarded and praised almost continuously over the weekend. Hopefully this is something they will want to have repeat performances of!

Just a note about photographing your flowers.

Sometimes a cloudy day is wonderful for this.

The colors are not washed out by the brightness of the sun.

Try a few and see what you think.

The most beautiful garden pictures I ever took were just before a thunderstorm hit. My garden was glowing in the gloom... Amazing.

    Write on!

I was just wondering if your boys go to a year round school?
I was wondering the pros and cons of it.

    Allimom,
    Thanks for answering my questions.
    Wow, that was quick.....
I did not expect you to get back to me so soon.
    *smiling*
I know that some schools here are already into the year round.
It is just a test to see how it works out, before they change the whole system.
I personally thought that year round schooling would be better.
But I sure like sleeping in for the 3 months that they are off. lol

Hi there, love your page! I am new here and I am trying (desperately) to customize my page. Can you offer any help, suggestions? Even my diary text entries are off to the left and not centered and I have no idea how to fix that! Thanks!
