Tuesday/Monday Morning
Tue Jun 01 2004

It has been relatively quiet getting the kids ready for school today. #2 & #3 are up and ready, and since #1 has a doc appointment this morning I'm letting him catch some extra z's to make the morning go more smoothly for me.

I’ve got bunches of homework I need to get done today. Homework I should have done over the weekend, but didn’t. It’s hard to really get anything done on the weekends with everyone home. Hubby tells me I should go to the library, but everything I need to do, needs to be done on the computer. Since hauling my ‘puter to the library and hooking it up there is not really feasible, I just wait until everyone is gone during the week and try to get it done then.

I’m hoping to get more gardening done today, using that to take breaks from homework. Specifically I’ve got several areas in the front that need to be weeded. I’m hoping that between today and tomorrow I can get everything weeded so I can take pictures of the areas that were barren a few months ago. With life peeking up from the soil it has a much softer look than the barren areas did before. In addition to the weeding, I’m thinking about filling in some of the areas of the flower beds with herbs. I haven’t made up my mind about that yet though. I wish I had a good area in my yard for Lavender, but that is something that will have to wait for the next house!

This and next week is “finals” for my English and Computer class. I don’t have any final test for either class, but do have a few projects I need to get done. I’ve really only have 2 classes this week, Wednesday and Friday for my Computer class. Thursday I have a conference with my English teacher, but it should be short and sweet. That leaves me lots of time to get homework done without being interrupted too much.

The kids worked their butts off over the weekend to complete all of the missing assignments they could. They are really working hard to be sure that they are able to go see Harry Potter on Friday. There are a few assignments they were unable to do at home, but I have confidence that they will find a way to get them done at school. #2 in particular has a lot to lose. If his grades are not ALL above a C on the next report card, he will be repeating the 8th grade. While I personally think this would be an eye opener for him, and entice him to do better in the future, he definitely does not want to see his twin go to High School and leave him behind.

In a worst-case scenario, would it be possible for #2 to go to summer school to make up work and so be able to continue on to high school this fall?

I have grown Lavender in clay pots for years and they have done very well. I like having it on my deck where I can smell it every time I'm out side.

English Lavender is very hardy and I have had pretty good luck with French Lavender as well though this last winter was pretty hard on them.

My (old) computer would not even load to the point of giving me a chance to get into the safe mode. I tried several different ways to get there. I couldn't even find mention of it in setup. I am hanging on to the tower for some unknown reason, hoping I guess that I can get my stuff off of it. I don't know when I will try again. Do you have any tips for getting into the safe mode from the "You did not shut your computer down properly/scan disk" page? It wouldn't go any further than that.
