Loverly Lilacs
Tue Apr 06 2004

The place I've been ordering my seeds and plants from this year just sent out a newsletter announcing their sale on lilacs.

These are one of my SIL's favorite flowering shrubs, and I think I remember her telling me she signed up for these newsletters too. I have a mental picture of her receiving this newsletter this morning and going nuts, wanting to buy all of the lilacs that are on sale. This company carries 7 different lilac varieties, and I already got her one for her birthday. Now the remaining 6 are on sale.

Go for it Leenie. Just imagine the color and fragrance added to your yard!

I must, I must, I must get outside and get my hands in some dirt.

Instead I'm going to get my fingers in some yarn. There aren't nearly enough hours in the day.

Actually the Lilac Festival starts on the 17th of this month. I can buy one or five gallon plants from old fashioned varities for real reasonable rates. Depending on what hubby wants to do for his birthday, I may get to the festival right when it opens when there are still good plants available. I want to place another lilac just outside my back door on the other side of the dog run. Someday those lilac blooms will fill the air with the sent of lilac where it can drift into my back door. I can't wait until the trees are big like they are at the festival.
