Confessions of a Student Mother
Fri Apr 02 2004

Well, I kinda-sorta got caught up on my math yesterday. I’m still behind, but not by much. The problems I’ve not been able to complete are the ones that I can find no reference on “how to” in the chapter. Don’t you just hate it when that happens?

While I’m pretty much caught up on math, I haven’t had the chance to do the reading for English or my Computer class. The Computer class reading I’m not too worried about as it is more review than new material at this stage. The English reading should go quickly. It is basically a preview of what our first writing assignment (to be assigned Monday) will be. A few pages of what is expected, then a couple examples, and that is it.

While I was able to get caught up on the math yesterday, it was at the expense of the kids. My attention was so firmly fixed on working out the problems that I missed hearing the warning signs that build up to attitude issues and fights among the boys. By the time I realized what was going on it was past the boiling point for #2. I defused the situation as much as I could. I sent each boy to his room to get them away from each other, and instructed them to wait there until dinner and when Hubby got home. Keeping them away from each other calmed #1 & #3 down enough that they were able to sit down and eat dinner with the family. #2 needed a bit more time to get control of his emotions, but was able to come around about the time we all finished eating.

While the evening started roughly, it ended on a quiet note and a pleasant one at that. I’m hoping that we don’t get into the same pattern tonight as we were last night, as Hubby will be working late, and I’m not sure when he will be home. He also will be working all weekend, so I’m hoping for divine intervention to keep the kids on a positive plane for the next 3 days.

A Mom can hope for the best can’t she?

Stop laughing.

    Oh, I remember the days!

It did seem like getting EVERYONE with the program was just too much.

We had one drama queen of the three boys, and when he just go unbearable, we used to start saying, "Yes, your royal behindness!"

But we saved it for the really bad days.. :-)

If they don't like McDonald's they can always cook for you. That'll get them to behave in two seconds, flat. Now, if you don't like McDonald's I can't help you. There's always Haagen Dazs at the grocery store, you could swing by... ;o)

You know, when I get to feeling there's just too much to do, and feeling like I just run from one thing to the next, all I have to do is read you or Covert Ops. Presto! My life feels way relaxed. Whew.

I am all admiration, even if you don't always get your homework done when you plan to!

    Hugs,
    Ani

Maybe you can get more homework done when #1 gets to go back to school. Or are they all on spring break next week?

Well Alli, I must say one thing: You manage to keep your sense of humor thoughout it all...or at least it comes out that way in your writing. ;)

Say, do you ever get confused with names? Four names to remember? I think I'd make everyone get tattoos in their forehead.

Hope you get some quiet homework time.

You deserve the 'Mother of the Year Award!'
    but, sorry to say....
The Award only lasts for that one moment that all in under control.

    That is why they say.....
    Motherhood is not for whimps!
    We handle it All!

Have you ever given any thought to adopting them OUT? To three separate families?

    At least temporarily?
