I don't remember having this many problems...
Mon Mar 29 2004

... when I was a kid. I honestly don't remember my Mom yelling at my brother and I to leave each other alone while we ate breakfast in the mornings before school.

I don't remember her having to resort to threats of bodily harm to get us to stop kicking each other under the table, or flipping each other off.

I don't remember her holding restrictions over our heads to get us to stop any vocalizations which caused either one of us to whine, get mad or become enraged.

I really don’t remember breakfasts being this unpleasant during my school days.

Steve, do you remember anything like this on school mornings?

I was kinda mean to my little brother once in a while. (Tickle the little guy till he pees his pants...) But it was pretty rare. Most of the time we got along just fine.

I got after my kids most of all for fighting with each other. It drove me crazy that they were so mean to each other.

    (3 boys)

You know what I think? I don't think kids have enough to do. And I don't mean sports. I mean work. I could write a book about it.

It's a pet theory I chew on from time to time.

I remember when my brother and I were little kids we would take turns setting the table for dinner. In the 1970's my mom bought pink plastic placemats that were covered in tiny bubbles of the plastic. One placemat had an extra long flattened bubble. Basically, a flaw in the placemat. For some odd reason my brother and I both HAD to have THAT placemat. We would fight over having that placemat. One of us would sneak into the dinningroom and switch it to our assigned seat if the other person had set the table and placed it at their own seat. It was one of the most stupid things to fight about. A flaw was some how more interesting then the perfect placemats. It made it different, unique, we each wanted to somehow stand out even if it were just because of a flawed placemat. Who knows why kids minds work the way they do. Sometimes I think it is because the wireing of kids brains are still in development. In the process they short circuit every once in a while. It is just something every kids goes through. Doing stupid things when your a kid is "normal." The good part is that MOST kids learn and mature, and eventually recognize how stupid these little things were. Just pray for them to mature. They have to grow up sometime.

ummm...yup i remember all that and more with my big bro. unfortunately there was never such a thing as a parent around of a morning to intervene. we were younger than my kids are now when we were left to fend for ourselves morning and after school while dad worked, spooky to think of from a parents point of veiw!

Catching up the last few entries...
I got a good chuckle out of the cereal box with the toy trick! LOL!
Your new school schedule doesn't sound too bad aside from what to do with #1. Have you thought about online classes? Personally, I didn't care for them, but for some folks they work well.
