#1 strikes again
Wed Mar 17 2004

He managed to make it all the way to 11:00 today before I got the call to come pick him up. It seems that he and the teachers were having a disagreement as to some safety issues with a ruler in class. After being asked to leave the class, he thought chasing squirrels would be a good way to blow off steam. Unfortunately several of the school staff thought he actually intended to do harm to the squirrels.

Anyone who knows #1 would know he would not hurt any animal. But with him chasing the squirrels chanting “Dinner-Dinner- Dinner-Dinner- Dinner-Dinner!” they had some concerns. Friends and family know that this is just him being a goof-ball. Unfortunately he doesn’t realize that being a goof-ball at school is not appreciated by anyone else.

So, we got home and I put him to work. He cleaned his room, dug up the roses in the front yard, transplanted some primroses from one location to another, and planted the sweet peas that have sprouted already. I’m now letting him go jump off some frustration and energy on the trampoline. #1 cooped up tends to lead to more problems. Hopefully him jumping out the excess go-go juice he has flowing through him will help lead towards a calm evening.

While he is not suspended, I’ve been asked to keep him home tomorrow since the people that normally assist with him during the day will be in training all day. He will go back Friday, then Monday will likely be off also as both he and #2 have orthodontist and dentist appointments all morning. Tuesday he will be going to school late as he goes back to see the orthopedic surgeon for a follow up and to see what our next course of action is with his broken finger.

Is it wrong for me to torment him by telling him that they will be amputating his finger then?

All weapons in your arsenal are permissable.

Maybe you can get #1 to help you make potholders. ;o) And think about it, really long skinny potholders are scarves and he might just take you up on one someday.

Drop me a line if you need or want help. Just remember to take it slow and easy, it will come to you the more you do. I'm a big advocate of Learn to Crochet books too, especially the ones where they have actual images of what you are supposed to do on each page. How you hold your hand, the yarn, and what it looks like after each stitch.

Ahh... see, my favorite subject. Tell me to hush! ;o)

I could not stop laughing as I read about your #1.
My lil Rainbow #2 got into some trouble yesterday too. At school, she kicked a boy and tried to dislocate his family jewels. Thank goodness she was not suspended from school, and the little boy won't be kicking her 'first' anymore. lol

Nah, you can tell him that as long as you also tell him that he can keep it in a pickle jar by his bed.
