A Day In The Life

#3 brought home his report card today. All I can say is WOW!!!! His grades are the best he has ever gotten, to include him getting an A in one of the 5 math categories and an overall math grade of B+. While his last report card had been the best to date prior to that, he has managed to bring up several of his grades from then. I'm thrilled to see that several of those grades are behavior related grades. Things like respecting the properties of others, and accepting responsibility, and biggest of all DEMONSTRATING SELF CONTROL!!! His marks for listening, following directions, using time, organizational skills, completing assignments on time and obeying the school rules have also come up.

Did I mention that I'm thrilled? WOW!!!

I so cherish these bright spots in their lives. It really helps to balance out other times and incidents. I think the thing I'm so excited about is the comment section filled out by his teacher:

Fourth Grade Second Quarter Comments:
I am very excited to write this progress report. #3 has come so far so quickly, it's tough to believe! He has been able to make very significant strides in his academic work and progress toward State Standards through effort and having more patience with himself. I think #3 is really beginning to understand more about what it takes to succeed!
There is still a ways to go, but from what I've seen, I know #3 can pull it all the way together. He's got quite a brain up there. If he can master self-control and a little more restraint regarding his emotions, watch out! He's finding his niche and beginning to take off. I hope that he will continue these consistent efforts into next quarter.

The reward he has asked for? He wants a trip to Dairy Queen to get a Blizzard. I think he will be getting a large!
