Slave Driver
Sat Jan 17 2004

Yep, that's me. The Slave Driver. Just ask my kids, they will tell you stories of horror.

This morning, I forced them to clean their rooms. I used brutal force and threatened them with horrific punishment. If they didn't clean their rooms, I would take away all of their books for the weekend.

#3 hustled his bustle and got his room (mostly) cleaned and vacuumed. #1 & #2 are another story. I've had to confiscate the 5 books #2 checked out from the library yesterday and am keeping them hostage until they are done. I've been going in to prod them every so often, and am really wishing I had a cattle prod.

#2 just came and asked me what I mean by clean. I told him to go look at my room (I just gave it an extensive cleaning this morning, including moving all the furniture to vacuum under it). I told him that while I don't expect his room to be THAT clean, I want it pretty darn close. I listed out
Make your bed
Put the things on your chair/dresser/desk/bookshelf AWAY
Vacuum
Dust

He seems quite put out.

He will get over it. I noticed #1 listening in as I told this to #2. I also noticed that he immediately went into his room and shut the door. I think he is hoping that if he does not ask me, I won't require all of the above from him also.

Think again Bucko.

It's funny - the only present I remember getting for graduation is a cornflower-blue star saphire ring from my then-boyfriend. We'd been together for four years, and would manage to last about a year after graduation before a particularly nasty break-up. It's now tucked away in the back of my jewelry box. I've never worn it again, and am entirely unsure of what to do with it. Wish I had a nicer momento from high school graduation.

By the way, I can obtain a cattle prod for you if you want.

Odd, isn't it, what prompts a memory. You see that ring dish every single day, yet all of a sudden memories come rushing back.

I wonder what the trigger is?

Oh, so you are the real Slave Driver! Here my kids had me convinced that I was. Shame on them!
I still have a few items from high school, I love being able to look at them.

Oh how I wish my kids were to the age that I could use brutal force to make them clean their room.
