We were up bright and early to catch the shuttle to Universal Studios. We were to spend the day there, and meet with my sister for lunch. We had hoped to meet with her whole family, but they were busy dealing with a bout of the flu, so we got to visit with her and give her our undivided attention. It was wonderful!
The kids were thrilled to see their aunt, and gave her the gifts we selected for their cousins. They received some of the Mad Lib books from her, and some other books. The Mad Libs were a definite hit with the kids. It kept them busy when we waited in lines and for the shuttle ride back to the motel that evening.
But on to the rest of the day...
The ride that was definitely the favorite was Jurassic Park. If the kids had the option, they would have gone on that over and over and over and over... well, you get the point. I think the second favorite was a cross between Back To The Future and the Spiderman Rocks show. The Spiderman Rocks was definitely the highlight of the day for #2 who is a hard core Spidey fan.
The kids all begged us to take them through The Mummy attraction. It was set up as a "maze" through what appeared to be a supernatural archeology dig. I think the kids would have been fine… had cast members not been hiding in key areas of the maze jumping out and grabbing them. After the first 10 seconds, #3 spent the rest of the maze being held by daddy, hiding his face in Hubby's neck and whimpering.
Am I wrong to snigger at this? Bad mommy.
#1 & #2 were fine until the end when one cast member really got them, jumping out and grabbing them in a dark area. They both screamed, and while they would not admit to it, I think their shorts may have been a bit damp.
When we were through, and I asked #2 & #1 if they wanted to do it again, they were VERY quick to say no. Gee, I wonder why?
The ride home was long due to traffic, but uneventful. Well, except for when the driver took a wrong turn and we got an up close and personal tour of one of the more colorful and dynamic areas of LA. Not a tour to be recommended for anyone traveling alone let me tell you. Even in a group, we were definitely a bus load of nervous ninnys. I think the carloads of teen gun toting boys that followed the bus may have contributed to this.
Needless to say, we were all VERY glad to get to our destinations and call it a day. Once again, the kids fell immediately asleep. Well, after I wrestled the Mad Lib books away from them at least, and Hubby and I took a load off our sore feet to fall comatose for the next 8 hours.
